Family Innocence Breaking News January 31, 2013

Filed under: Faces Of Family Innocence,Family Innocence News — Family Innocence @ 3:02 am

download  J P Ghetty once said:  “I will give my entire fortune for ONE happy marriage”.  Michelle MacDonald’s client’s  often tell her say they will never get married again, to which she replies  “This is your last divorce, not your last marriage.”

“Someday, in the not so distant future,  children will look up at their elders and say ‘ You mean families used to be able to sue each other in court?’”

The Family Innocence Project promises to be a world-changing organization.  LISTEN NOW (or later) to the radio, and video clips below.  And this  Bird is just getting off the ground… www.FamilyInnocence.com.

LISTEN TO LINK ABOVE…Attorney Kimberly Hanlon, and mediator Anita Motolinia join attorney Michelle MacDonald, and her client, Benedictus Ombuna, whose tragic custody case inspired Family Innocence – the  organization.  Hear Benedictus’ heartbreaking story, from the perspective of  “family innocence”, starting with the death of his wife; the disappearance of his son at a routine bus stop; and the  wrongful ex parte (no notice) family court “custody order”. The case ended with the Judge removing himself, dismissing the relative’s custody orders,  and a finding of NO COURT JURISDICTION — back to “family Innocence.”  But the months of being separated from his son, and the costly, unneccessary litigation that his family could not afford, irreparably damaged the parent-child relationship.  Benedictus’ case  proved to be a world-changer for 25 year family law attorney Michelle MacDonald, to call attention to the concept of “family innocence”, and the simple fact that family matters are NOT court matters.

The Judge’s talk at the Family Innocence Judge’s Social was phenomenal… 22 minutes of pure genius…

Mandatory joint custody? Here we go again . . . January 28, 2013

Family law attorneys debate pending legislation …it helps you understand viewpoints, the complexity of custody ,agendas of different parties , as well as the impact of divorce..

Personally I am a big believer in mandatory joint custody , but it is interesting to hear the argumant.

Wise Words

Filed under: Divorce And Society,Resources — Family Innocence @ 5:09 pm
‘When one spouse wants out but the other truly doesn’t, the exiting spouse often thinks the marriage will end but that the relationship will be very cordial, that holidays will be spent together with the children and that you will be “good friends.”

Although there certainly are people for whom this is true, for most,… this is simply not the case. An unwanted divorce leads to bitterness, hurt, devastation, all of which are difficult to overcome. In time, relationships between ex’s can and often do improve, but no one should leave a marriage with the Pollyanna idea that it is going to be “life as usual” except for the divorce. It just doesn’t work that way. Divorce has consequences.   Michele Weiner-Davis (via Divorce Busting)’

Shrink 4 Men January 27, 2013

Filed under: Resources — Family Innocence @ 11:56 pm

‘The first Shrink4Men was published by Dr Tara J. Palmatier, PsyD on January 12, 2009. Dr Palmatier began Shrink4Men because she recognized that men who are in abusive relationships in which the perpetrator is a woman do not have the same support resources as their female counterparts. Much of society and support organizations refuse to recognize that men comprise approximately 50% of relational abuse targets or, worse yet, ridicule men who seek help for this reason.’

Divorce Rates Help Explain Why Americans Work More Than Euopeans

Filed under: Divorce And Society — Family Innocence @ 4:20 am

‘It is no secret that Americans work more than Europeans – 30% more according to recent studies. Many economists point to higher taxes in Europe as a major cause. This column suggests that divorce rates also play a role, particularly for women’s labour supply’
